Immanuel International Academy Teachers Day

Immanuel international Academy celebrated it’s very first Teacher’s Day on the 4th of September!

The day began with a special Assembly where Ms. Philip, the principal, explained why we celebrate Teacher’s Day on the 5th of September in India. For those of you who aren’t aware of the history, here’s a brief synopsis:
Teacher’s Day is celebrated in honor of the birthday (5 September, 1888 to be exact) of the 2nd President of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan – a noted scholar, philosopher and educator.

Among the many talented students of IIA, a few were selected to present a song, give speeches, perform a traditional Bengali dance and a short skit. Then the students split into two groups to watch Avatar and Star Wars while the teachers gathered for a fun and relaxing morning. They were joined by Aylwin Woleng (LTCi) and “Aunty” who shared from her years of experience as an educator. She was full of praise and respect for the teachers and also thanked them for their hard work and commitment.

We also read out notes of encouragement and appreciation to the teachers sent by our friends and partners in the States – Jan Venable, Barbara Condra and Grant Venable. And of course, it wouldn’t be a celebration without good food and presents for everyone. A big “thank you” to all who made this a memorable day for our teachers!

Anshu Academy Rananagar, Siliguri

Anshu Academies form an important part of the work of LTC in reaching out to the local community, providing good education to the most needy in society and preaching the Gospel to unreached peoples. This report is of the school and fellowship led by Samuel at Rananagar in Siliguri.

Anshu Academy, which is located in a remote village with 800 Hindu families of Rajbonshi tribe. They are illeterate and manual workers , who are poverty striken.

In Anshu Academy, we not only give academic education but Christian education too. Our school kids have memorised by now at least 30 verses from the Bible even though they are from Hindu families.

Baptisms are taking place from time to time. Six new believers were baptized on 14th February 2010 at L.T.C. church. Through running Anshu Academy, the Lord has saved altogether 16 people .We give all the glory to our living God.

The Anshu Academy serves two purposes, Monday-Saturday Academic classes and on Sunday Church worship is held.

  • Pray for the new believers.
  • Need $400 for electricity connection.
  • Need $5000 for new class rooms.
  • Pray for students and teaching staff.
  • Need $250 for barb wire fencing.

Schools Work in Tripura

In Tripura school is a common ground both for believers and non believers where the gospel is shared. The literacy rate is still very low. Most of the people cannot read and write.
The pictures below show: Children with parents on its re-opening day, staff visiting the schools and prayed for teachers and students.
Within the schools we have two main goals: 1. To be able to read Bible and sing Hymns. And, 2. To impart quality education for next generations
